FROM TIME TO TIME , San Bernard Electric Cooperative con-ducts a cost of service study that reviews our electricity rates to make sure those rates are fair and equitable across all rate classes. This study looks at our costs to serve each rate class and the cost components within rate classes.
Our most recent study was done by independent consultant C.H. Guernsey & Co. Upon completion of this study, we found our residential, general service, commercial and industrial rate classes need to be restructured.
Our largest rate class, residential single phase, will see a $1 increase in the base charge, and the delivery charge will decrease by $0.00025 per kilowatt. There will be an overall increase of 75 cents per 1,000 kilowatt-hours.
As an electric cooperative, we keep our members in the fore-front of any cost considerations instead of profits when we look at our rates. Considering the restructuring of electric rates is one of the most challenging and important tasks your cooperative board and staff tackle.
Above is the rate card breaking down the new rate structure for each rate class. The change will go into effect with the July 2024 billing period.
